Ants are one of the most common reasons people in Sunnybank call us, especially from spring through to autumn. Black house ants trail along benches and window sills, coastal brown ants push up little mounds of soil between pavers and along the edge of the slab, and tiny sugar ants find their way into bathrooms and pantries. Some ants even move into power points and appliances.
Killing the ants you can see does not stop the colony. The crew we book works out where the trail is coming from and treats the source where possible. Outdoors, that can mean a treatment around the perimeter of the house, into cracks in paving and along garden edges. Indoors, ant baits are often used so the workers carry the product back to the nest and queen. Different ants prefer different baits, so tell us whether they seem to go for sweet or greasy foods.
- Trails across benches, sinks and window sills
- Mounds of soil between pavers and driveways
- Ants in bathrooms, pantries and pet bowls
- Nests under slabs and along garden beds
- Ants in power points and appliances
Many Sunnybank backyards have large vegetable gardens, fruit trees and paved entertaining areas, and ants love all three. Keep garden mulch a hand's width away from the walls, wipe up sweet spills straight away and store pet food in sealed containers. After the visit, leave ant trails near baits alone for a few days so the ants can take the bait home.
If you notice a new trail weeks later, tell us where it is, as it may be a different colony. The price is given before the visit. Call 07 3543 7769 to book ant control.
